During early morning prayer at 7am, I am seeing a lot of young people…children, students, and young adults. It’s inspiring to see the next generation participating in the fast as well as giving prayer a priority in their lives. Students and young adults have led us in prayer at all of these meetings, over different areas, and praying mainly for other students. As adults, please join me in recognizing the example that we set for them when we make fasting and prayer a priority in OUR lives.
I have been in Churches where the important spiritual exercises and ministry were left up to all of the “old people”. Then I’ve been in others where it was all left up to the “young people” I love being in this Church where ALL of the people participate, take a turn, operate in our gifts and abilities, and LEAD.
Yes, prayer is intensely personal, but it’s also intensely corporate! Our children, students, and young adults learn to pray when we 1)make prayer a priority and they can SEE that, and 2)when they can pray WITH us instead of just hoping that they will figure it out.
Thank you for changing your routine, your schedule, and making corporate prayer a priority. You’re making a difference in those who are watching…and they ARE watching and learning…from YOU.
